¿Cómo ayudar a tu bebé en la dentición?

teething baby

Babies begin teething around the age of 6 months because this is when the first tooth prepares to come out—teething last until all the milk teeth have come out. Teething is an uneasy phase for children. They tend to become irritable, cry more, drool a lot and may experience disturbed sleep. However, please be assured that this is normal and happens with everyone. Despite that being said, as parents, it is difficult to see your child's discomfort. Thankfully, there are a lot of dentist-approved measures you can take to help your teething baby.

  • Gum massage

Massage the gum with your finger while applying gentle pressure. Mild pressure will provide temporary comfort to your child and help ease the pain. It will also improve circulation in the area.

  • Cold pacifiers

Use a non-gel pacifier. Keep the pacifier in the freezer for some time before giving it to your baby. Cold temperature provides extreme comfort to the baby and will help relieve the discomfort.

  • Teething gels

Over-the-counter teething gels contain a low amount of lignocaine (anesthetic) which can be applied to the gums 1-2 times a day. It will relieve pain and provide comfort. However, it is important not to overdo it and do it under supervision.

  • Cold fruits

Freeze cut pieces of watermelon, mangoes, and other fruits like strawberries. Give it to your baby. They will chew on it, and the hard texture and cold temperature will provide them comfort. In addition, they will get added nutrition and vitamins from the fruits. It is a win-win.

  • Wipe away the drool

Excessive drooling makes the children irritable and wets their clothes which further adds to their discomfort. So, make them wear a bib and keep wiping the drool with a soft cloth.
