FIRST VISIT?

Wilmington orthodontic center offers a Complimentary Initial Consultation. It’s a chance for us to get acquainted, and for you to learn about the treatments and services we offer.

You should plan to spend at least an hour with us the first time. That’s to ensure that no one has to rush, and that you get plenty of time to ask any questions you may have. You will meet one of our receptionists or patient coordinators, who will take some information from you and bring you through the office.

Your very first visit with us is an interesting and informative appointment. Dr Pancko will discuss with you your reasons for seeking an orthodontic appointment and any concerns you may have with your teeth and/or bite. She will conduct a detailed clinical examination of your face, jaws, teeth and occlusion (bite), and advise you of her findings. Besides looking in the mouth, she may also ask questions, such as whether the jaws make noise when the mouth is opening or closing, or if there are any problems chewing or swallowing. Dr Nancy Pancko will discuss possible orthodontic treatment options and time frames for treatment. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about orthodontic treatment.

If orthodontic treatment is indicated at this time, an appointment for Diagnostic Records is scheduled to help the orthodontist plan the best treatment plan for each individual patient. If time allows, these diagnostic records can be taken at the initial visit.

Diagnostic Records includes photographs of the teeth, radiographic (X-ray) images and molds of the teeth. The photographs show us the position of the teeth relative to your face. The x-rays are so that we can evaluate the position and growth of bones and joints, and the teeth that are still below the gum line. The molds of the teeth lets us make an exact replica of the bite so we can address the problems that you have with your bite. With all the information, Dr. Pancko will study the diagnostic records and determining the best course of treatment.

Following the exam, we may tell you that things are just fine — or, we may recommend treatment. Treatment might begin right away or at a later time, depending on the developmental stage of the teeth and jaws. Many times, we’ll advise you to return for a periodic checkup, until we determine that it’s the best time to start.

The cost of treatment depends upon the severity of the patient’s problem. The treatment coordinator will discuss fees and payment options, during the initial exam, if treatment is required. We have different payment plans to suit your budget and accept assignment from most insurance plans. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.

INSURANCE

If your insurance covers orthodontic treatment, you will receive the benefit of reduced personal costs. Many insurance policies have a lifetime orthodontic benefit that is distinct from regular dental insurance. Remember that insurance policies vary, and we will review your insurance to determine the appropriate course of action.

We accept all major insurances. We are a preferred provider for MetLife, Delta Dental and Cigna DNSP. Once orthodontic treatment has started, we will file your claims.
